Maria Larionoff is the concertmaster of the Seattle Symphony (a program which has been rising through the orchestral ranks in the past twenty or so years). Her husband was my bass teacher in high school so talking with her at my lessons was always pretty neat. There was some awkward concertmaster dispute in Seattle and for a while there were actually four, but Maria sort of just...uhh, beat the other ones out, for lack of a better term.
